Anxiety is at the root of most mental-health issues, and it is the number-one factor that affects wellbeing. Anxiety is known to greatly diminish one’s quality of life, exacerbate mood swings, and affect relationships, friendships, and performance and impede one’s functioning at an optimal level. When anxiety is present, the ability to soothe oneself fails.

Anxiety is a naturally occurring neuro-biological phenomenon of the brain and body in response to a dangerous situation. Its purpose is to protect and maximize an organism’s chances of survival. The stress response is a mechanism that has helped humans survive animal attacks, hunt, and protect their tribes and families since the beginning of their very existence.

When we experience chronic anxiety, it is a sign that the chain of neuro-chemicals of the stress response remain active, re-traumatizing the organism and maintaining it in a state of “survival terror.” We call this being caught up in an “anxiety loop.”

The key to living anxiety free is to develop a strong soothing system and activating the authentic adult self within us.
